@almaguer taught himself to paint and began his artistic career decades later than planned, thanks to Steemit and the support he found there.
Although he faces challenges (often painting at night after a long day of work, being limited by materials, internet, struggles while climbing those hills to make it possible) his art continues to improve.
This painting is a great example of his work: timeless, thoughtful, intriguing, and a joy to look at. It resonates across every culture.

@norat23 presents a story in which the protagonist attends her niece's 15th birthday to meet her "platonic love of Thousand years ago. Still a hunk to her. Seeing him so physically deteriorated, she couldn't believe she had once been so infatuated with this "heartthrob" and the fact he is the richest man in town doesn't change anything.
It's a very charming piece, well worth reading.

And there we are joining the author's first day at Republic Polytechnic in Singapore for a two day course.
While playing the 4 seasons of Vivaldi provided I study the clear photos and wonder how easy it is for a teacher to make students eat chicken with rice.

¡Muchas gracias por nombrarme! En esta temporada, lo de comentar es casi la única actividad que consigo hacer. Entonces, se hace necesario explicar los porqués. Estoy en fase de transición, pues me temo que el próximo mes (hay plazo que no puedo perder) tendré que deshacerme de mi VAT. El actual gobierno de este país lo está destruyendo todo (los pequeños comercios y servicios) y ahora me la paso entre un sitio de información y otro para ver cómo seguir trabajando legalmente sin VAT. Imagínense: ahora quieren que emitamos facturas para cualquier clase de actividad y para cualquier cliente y están locos de remate. Pues, todos los que trabajamos en plataformas como esta, ¿cómo demonios vamos a colocar la dirección de residencia física, la identificación fiscal, nombres y apellidos de los propietarios de estas plataformas o de los foros? Sin esas informaciones no conseguimos emitir facturas y, si no emitimos facturas, son dos años de cárcel, además de multas que pueden alcanzar los cinco ceros. Obviamente, nadie de nosotros posee la información sobre esos datos para la factura. Además, aun si lo tuviéramos, habría que firmar un contrato con un banco para la emisión (también obligatoria) de invoice, pues se consideran clientes en el extranjero y ese contrato cuesta un riñón, por lo menos diez veces más de lo que ganamos en estas plataformas. Ni las facturas nacionales son viables. Imagínense a los millares de vendedores callejeros que tenemos en el país: por cada zumo de naranja vendido en la calle van a tener que pedir todos aquellos infelices datos a cada peatón que pare en su quiosco. Y, por añadidura, afuera de las capitales y metrópolis, incluso tus conocidos, hasta parientes, se rehúsan a fornecer la identificación fiscal. Mi propia cuñada no quiso proporcionarme el de ella por las clases que di a sus hijos. Así que no hay mucho que hacer...

Well, dear friend: next month and probably I'll get rid of my VAT to stay into legality, as I can't bill Steemit and its cousins...
What does that mean: get rid of your VAT? With us there's no way you can get rid of your VAT unless you vanish.
I try to explain, even if my English is not enough to a so technical subject:
1)when I proceed with a withdrawal from Steemit and its cousins, the final step is converting this money to FIAT and send to my bank account
2)I must show to the R.S.I that this money is legit and its origins (otherwise, the R.S.I. can call me to give explanations (where this money come from? Who does pay you? Give me names, surnames and physical addresses) and severely fine
3)until now, to stay into legality, I used a VAT number
4)but since next year (maybe 2027, so I must call the entity who is responsible of all the smallest businesses), there will be a compulsory billing of our customers (so it effectively means I'll be compelled to bill Steemit and its cousins all times I withdraw and it's materially impossible, as these socials pay me in fact). Lack of billing means trials and even prison. And no, I'm not eager to get in jail...
5)in my country, billing require compulsory data: names and surnames of the people who pay us, their physical address and their tax number. I can't imagine the street artists (orange juice street sellers also) how the hell they can bill all the many passersby that leave a penny into their hats while they play the guitar, the flute or they draw and paint in the street: our current government is just mad as a hatter
6)so I'll get rid of my VAT (unfortunately, Steemit and its cousins still are my main source of income, so I'll have nothing to write to my accounting-book: since next year or 2027, my only possibility to stay legit with this income is to convert into coupons that don't require the KYC or to withdraw small amounts as it were a pay to play game). In my country is forbidden to stay a long time with a opened VAT while our accounting-books stay empty
7)finally, this means my income will be too much reduced. Coupons is not the same of money: we must used them only in a limited amount of shops and none of them sell food and drinks (if it were in a EU country, there are supermarkets and Amazon accepting these coupons, but here is mainly electronic shops and phone recharges)
Hoping I could explain to be understandable. Such a mishap is a big part of the new tax reform in my country. I'd like to leave, but in this moment it's impossible...
So long story short: you can keep writing on Steemit while you think of a way to lay hands on it or wait and safe.
With us, the bank does know everything and what the bank knows the taxes know automatically. The bank also asks a few time a year where the money you receive and spend comes from and there's no way to exchange Steemi into Euro without being registered with your ID and your home address and and and...
I still find it strange if everyone refuses to give their number since it's just a matter of time.

Suerte que ni soy ciudadana del país donde vivo. La verdad es que tengo ganas de hacer mis maletas e ir a Portugal u otro país más viable. Lástima que estas decisiones no se pueden tomar así de plano. Ya no tengo edad para equivocaciones...
Siempre es bueno analizar nuestra vida misma como si fuésemos extraños. Como dice el refrán popular: "A veces perdiendo, también se gana".

Thank you for the nomination. I didn't see it coming. What you write is interesting; it's true, although I got to this point without realizing it. Without your help, the story would be different. Steemit is a place to learn, find art and artists; there are great artists there. There are great thinkers, top-level intellectuals. I humbly take my hat off to them. My reality is brutal, but it doesn't stop me from dreaming. I dream that one day many will care about keeping this ecosystem afloat, without the hateful practice of just bleeding it dry, really helping those who create, in short, a pride of belonging.

Reality is more harsh (cruel) than anyone can imagine. Empathy is an illusion, but dreams are what keep us alive. It's good to hear you still have dreams.
I guess at a certain point enough should be enough. Steemit can also offer something to others in need who do have, like you mentioned, a lot to offer.
