Is it lonely to be almost understood, and what about being completely misunderstood? Is there a chance to bridge the gap, to be understood, or will someone else fill in the blanks when you think it wiser to remain silent?
"Misunderstandings are probably the most intimate mess two humans could possibly create together, if you ask me. We wouldn’t misunderstand strangers—we would have absolutely nothing left on the line to miscalculate… so obviously strangers aren’t doing it (or if they are, they’re weird). You have to be intimately familiar with someone’s personality to be able to hear the wrong meaning behind their words. They know your silences better than anyone else."

An interesting story that reveals the emotional conflicts the protagonist faces in coping with her family's behaviour. This situation has led her to see the third floor of the house as a refuge, taking advantage of the fact that the rest of her family suffers from acrophobia. This is an engaging piece that I encourage you to read.
"Almost everyone in my family suffers from a range of ailments, one of which is never keeping their mouth shut. I don’t know how I ended up in such a chatty, nosy bloodline that is the sworn enemy of silence.
I find it hard to have breakfast, lunch and dinner with the family because words come and go..."

This artist shares his drawings and his experiences. For him, drawing is a way to relax and a learning process. After he had taken a photo of the vendor, a lady, at the fish market, he was asked if he was allowed to do so.
"Taking photos isn’t really a big deal as long as you’re not up to any mischief. Besides, I know this girl quite well. I’m a regular customer at her shop. If she’d known I was taking her photo, she might have struck a pose for me, which wouldn’t have looked natural.
Later, when she found out I’d drawn a picture of her, she might have had something to say to me, but she was very busy at the time. I didn’t stick around either. Believe me, I get on very well with the people around me.
In China, there isn’t much of a fuss about taking photos of other people."

@blessedlife reflects on the value of communities within the Steemit platform and the important work that moderators do within them. However, she points out that it's not fair for moderators to "hoard" the biggest financial rewards, as ideally, at least in these virtual spaces, justice and equity should prevail, since these are lacking in the real world. In her words:
...I know that being a moderator involves work, especially if you do it well. However, it's not right to try to hoard all the rewards; that's ambition and selfishness.

It is a 160 kilometer drive to the new Zoo in Baranovichi the family intends to visit. It is not like expected, even quiet depressing to see the state the animals are.
"As for me, zoos have a depressing effect: whilst Disneylands and fairground rides are purely human entertainment, it’s no fun at all for the animals behind bars or glass. There’s nowhere to escape from this heat, there’s practically no shade, and on top of that, two-legged creatures are running about, eating..."

What if you do not have a good Joke at hand?
"I was queuing for five hours for petrol…and them all of a sudden… when it was finally my turn, the fireman said: “This petrol is only for people who can tell good jokes...
The fuel gauge was on zero; I wiped the sweat from my brow and realised that my fate depended on my sense of humour (thank goodness I’m from Maracaibo – we’re famous for being ‘jokers’). The petrol station attendant was very serious; he was holding the hose as if it were a microphone, with him as the compère and a long queue of sleep-deprived drivers waiting anxiously for the verdict."

There is one theme that keeps cropping up in her posts: her cats, and now increasingly other animals too. It’s hard to say what’s best about her posts: the photos or the sometimes hilarious captions she adds to them. This woman has a brilliant sense of humour and, although her eyesight is deteriorating, she still has an eye for the smallest details. Her photo diaries are certainly well worth a look.
