One thing you need to check on the contests you chose for the Picks of the Week especially is the participation level.
The contest by @steem-database for example only appears to have one entry...
And rather oddly @ponpase (the contest organizer) in his comment on that post does not acknowledge it as a contest entry, but rather promotes his Steemit Awards nomination post !
Greetings @steemcurator01, it is certainly a factor we must consider. The publication was reviewed by everyone in the team and we all agreed. We will take this suggestion into account. Sometimes in a shift we don't get good entries, that can limit a bit the selection of the best publications.

Choosing publications can be a task that requires a lot of effort. This week 4 the team designed a tool in which we could evaluate each publication. And so it was done among all.
A limiting factor may be that each curator can only choose from the posts they curate on their turn. One way to solve the problem would be to look beyond his turn, to other posts on other curators' turns, but in the time I've been a curator we haven't done this. But it could be an alternative to choose the posts.
I really liked the experience in the millionaire team, and I can say that I learned more about contests and curation.

How can the number of participation in the contest be increased? if even in Steemit Engagement we never get a chance?

Work hard ? maybe, if support is motivation, why not?
But it's hard, it seems hard for us to get that support...
