RE: CCC Photography Contest : Me And My Shadow Week #5
Dear Sir,
Imagine a world without electricity. Everything imaginable fits. You go to work and there is no power, and nothing happens. If you cook with electricity (98% of the population) and you don't have it (creative resistance, said the president). The refrigerator doesn't cool. Long, endless hours at night with a temperature of 32 degrees. Then you have to pay all the taxes for your work as if you had electricity.
Now they are spending millions on solar panels, which do not solve the problem. (At night we don't have sun.)
It's a complex issue. Months go by. Many promises, few results. Then there is the chain of events. Everything depends on electricity: industry, agriculture, transportation. Let's not even talk about entertainment.
We have the largest migration process in the history of Cuba (millions have left, the workforce) and to top it all off, they pay you in one currency (Cuban peso) and the stores where you shop (are in dollars) a monthly salary can be at the exchange rate of $3.86. And easily, a carton of eggs costs $7.79.
