I'm not very well-versed in matters of royalty. On the island, there's nothing like it. But I suppose a gold crown always looks shiny. It doesn't sound like it's recycled, even if it's worth a trillion trillion and we could melt it down and recreate it under new banners.
A golden bracelet was stolen from a museum the thief, clearly an idiot, melted it. He wouldn't if he had paid some attention during history class. A bracelet from the time of the pharaos has more value than some melted gold.
The island misses nothing. Imagine a government and royalty you have to keep alive against all odds.
