RE: The next sandwich

in CCC20 hours ago

I once worked as a kitchen attendant in a hotel. I was in charge of the kitchen during my shift. My duties included preparing basic breakfast for guests, microwaving food, and frying chips.

After making sandwiches for more than 20-25 rooms, depending on the day, especially when there was an event like a wedding, some guests wouldn't eat them. I don't like eating bread on an empty stomach — it makes me want to vomit. So I usually kept them for some of the staff who would come to ask me if there were any leftovers. I don't like throwing food away.

The manager complained that it was a waste of resources, so he instructed me to make them on demand. You can try that to see if it works for you.

I didn't like that idea because I always wanted to hand over to the next shift and go home. It was a one-day-on, one-day-off schedule. We were two in charge of the kitchen, one per shift. It could get overwhelming, especially when you had no assistant and everywhere was crowded during celebrations. Everyone would be calling on you, haha.
