Wow, this topic’s gotten me out of my poetic self. Well, I don’t plan to do it always.
So let me just go for something short.

I sit quietly under the tree, lost in thought, wondering what my dinner will be. It’s Friday, and if I’m honest, I’ve run out of food choices since a week ago.

It’s been an endless cycle of rice, beans, and maybe a few snacks when it gets too much.

Why not get something different, or buy already-cooked food from a vendor, you might ask? It doesn’t really appeal to me. I’d just be buying what I already have, but from a different cook.

Moi moi is just beans in a different form, and I got tired of it last month.

“Why not try corn?” fate asks again.
Can’t you see the view? It’s spoiled and not fit for dinner.
I bought some the previous day and almost puked. I thought it was fresh, but it tasted like over-warmed food from a week ago.

Is this street just full of nothing new? I should probably come to your house for dinner, even though I know it’s the same dish on the menu.
“Of course,” you say, “but to make it fun, I’ll ask my friend: what would you like for dinner, rice or beans?”
Of course my response is EITHER. Just make it as delicious as we’ve never eaten before — but don’t overdo it.
