We served usually serve fish head-on and eyes wide. We thought we were being hospitable and we were so excited to introduce our French guest to our local delicacies, blissfully ignorant of how 'anatomically correct' food can be for others. I can’t recall if we managed to terrorize him any further by plucking the eyeballs out and sucking the meat right off them in front of him, but the damage was done. He spent the entire meal staring at the fish in horror not eating much.
