Signs and Symbols || Prompt

I have always assumed signs and symbols are the same, but it looks like I have mixed up their function. I know they both convey a message, they communicate and make aware but the deeper meaning is what differentiate them.

I know symbols are like a representation of something, you can use the symbol to describe what you are talking about. Symbols function this way.

But signs can also represent but I think it is mostly for direction and instructions.

I know there is are differences but it all blurry to me, especially with the aspect of signs.

Maybe you have a better idea, I'll love to learn from you too.
