I think it’s a brilliant combination: spending time with a friend and seeing something new. Italian cuisine can be excellent, but there’s also a lot of fast food, and it’s certainly not tasty. A cottage, especially on the coast or in a village, is definitely better than staying in the city. I was in Italy and just found it a shame that there’s less of a sense of community, too many foreigners, and it rained absolutely constantly.
