RE: Daily Prompt | Last Train to

in CCC11 days ago

Soon, that last train will be a thing of the past. In an increasing number of countries around the world, women no longer see the need to get married. If a partner adds nothing to their lives, why should they get married? The same applies to having children.
As they say here: the higher the level of education, the less likely a woman is to get married.
As well as marriage, we also have civil partnerships; both can offer tax benefits. In the latter case, no children are involved, which could be an advantage if the relationship ends, although I have my doubts about that.
There have always been single women, even hundreds and hundreds of years ago. They got on just fine, had a job, and although some families kept asking, ‘When are you going to get married?’, they never did.
It sounds as though marriage added nothing to their lives, apart from the extra burden of pampering a husband and the risk of a shorter and unhappy life.

Statistics show that married women live shorter lives, whilst married men live longer… so women are literally giving years of their lives to their partners.

Apparently, married men are like energy vampires, to say the least. I always tell my mother that most women end up losing out in the "exchange," lol.
