I have doubts about the lack of inspiration. Most likely his mind needed peace, the peace of nature and it takes time to relax.
He left for a reason (and took his back, which stands behind him).
If it would be all about sticking to the same rhythm it wouldn't mind where he is. He would draw no matter the place (car, airport, metro, centre of the city, a restaurant or outside in nature).
Sounds your nature boy has nothing wit nature and even goes for fast food.
When I see the image, the first thing that comes to mind is precisely those moments when we run out of inspiration. It can be due to work pressure that makes us make wrong decisions. Hence my focus on the story and the ending, obviously. We can reconsider and relax to do our work better.
