What if Columbus had not discovered America?
The world would be a kind of parallel universe, because most of us would not be alive, or if we were alive we would not be writing this at this very moment.

Sometimes I think about that, about how discovering something is not always positive for all parties.

In the case of Columbus, without a doubt it was quite positive for the Europeans, but disastrous for the native Americans, some already extinguished by "civilization."

The discovery of the hidden power of the poppy could also be considered mostly negative—we already know why. And so with many discoveries that changed the world and at times made it worse.

And a song by the Spanish group Mecano comes to mind, I think it is titled Blues del esclavo, in which they propose in the chorus the following:

And the one who prefers let him return to Senegal run naked through the jungle with his woman and child

Perhaps for many that would be preferable to the world that enslaves us today.

Y me viene a la mente una canción del grupo español Mecano, creo que se titula Blues del esclavo, en la que proponen en el coro lo siguiente:

Y el que prefiera que se vuelva al Senegal correr desnudos por la selva con la mujer y el chaval

Tal vez para muchos eso podría ser preferible al mundo de hoy que nos esclaviza.
