I was commenting on @wakeupkitty's poll on using AI translators that I do wonder about the translation outcome. Because there is no way to verify if the translation is correct and we are at the mercy of the translators. I do appreciate members who writes or comments in English and add their own language at the bottom or whichever way to help with the translation because that helps shorten the time needed for the reader to copy and paste for it to be translated.

I assume the auto translate belongs to certain browsers and you should switch it on (settings?). Also some Steemit "apps" seem to translate. I tried a few but they are not like peakdcand partiko we used in the past. It is too tiny and I struggle posting in it. I have to write in the Steemit.com notepad and next copy-paste it over there. Not really a win-win, but extra work.
Oo partiko, haven't heard that in a while. Partiko was nice to use, if I remember correctly. Interesting that there is still no mobile app development for steemit since the fork. Translation is always extra work, and may not be true to its meaning but we don't really have much of a choice. Ahhh @emmabritt uses Edge. Let me check on firefox and chrome.
Not an app to download as far as I know, it works through the browser. If you ask me, more and more apps are just a hyperlink.

Yes, it's not an app. Just part of the browser's function. Edge is by Microsoft

I have to click the translate function if it's on my phone unless it's chrome I'm using, then there is this same pop up from the desktop. So I don't have to click it each time
Chrome has this auto translate feature too. I'm currently watching some anime on a Chinese platform there. So I relied on the translation to navigate the site
I'm using Edge. There's a prompt that ask if you want it to be automatically translated each time. I ticked yes but sometimes it didn't translate so I had to right click to translate the page

Yes, most of the time we are at the mercy of the translators. It can create some misunderstanding for certain things. Like how I sometimes watch dramas on mute. The person greeted her mother-in-law as 'auntie' or 'mrs' in the subtitle when she in fact said 'mother' in her own launguage. So, the dynamic of their relationship seems shifted because of the inaccurate translation. If I didn't rewind and turn on the sound, I would assume that she was being disrespectful or something
There’s a limit on the number of words in subtitles. It’s more of a general summary, and the automatic subtitles generated by bots are absolutely dreadful. YouTube is really bad. Often, not a single word of what’s being said is correct. This makes learning languages increasingly difficult.

Yes, the CC function in Youtube is just so awful. They don't make sense at all and it's so frustrating. I'm supposed to watch anime there to wind down, but it stressed me out because of that. LOL
Even the subtitle team in my country more than 30 years ago were better than that.
