For Mr. K to be hoisted, wonder if he felt more humiliated than if he decided to turn back on his own. One thing is for sure, I really salute sherpas, porters and guides and the risks they take, to ensure climbers' safety. I climbed a mountain (a much lower one compared to the mountain in the Himalayas) in my country once and they had porter services. The porters or guides were amazing. They climb up in slippers, carried bags on their heads and when someone gets hurt, they can carry the person on their back that was twice their size.
I think there are people who don't think logically when it comes to their egos.
Without a doubt, the Sherpas and the inhabitants of the mountains are people with great resilience and tenacity.
Did you seriously summit a peak? That's something I don't think I'm capable of. The highest I've ever climbed was to the Cotopaxi glacier...about 5000 meters above sea level.
Yah I truly salute them. I did but the peak is much lower than yours haha. The highest I've climbed was just 4000 meters but it was tough at the last stretch. Yours is a much higher peak.
Climbing Cotopaxi is quite easy, as the ascent begins at 4500 meters above sea level and requires neither technique nor experience. However, it is very cold!
