I believe if keep repeating the same stories the will to listen is gone.

I believe that this has been quoted many times in many different ways. Depends on language and culture.
But, it's good to mention is that we're creatures of habit. We might not like repetition and get bored. But, we do make a lot of habits around us that makes our routine.
