I doubt people get used to their lives and situations. If that would be the case there wouldn't be that many disturbed, fed up, crazy, unhappypeople not to forget to memtion all those with an identity crisis, burnout or stressed out.
Sad how is never said or read what should have.

People get used to things that stick with them. It's different when they try to get over situations.
I think it is nice from a story perspective to have some things that just did not unfold at the end. It may make it sound more realistic. What do you think?
For sure a story is not that direct and many will pick out some facts based on own experiences. Morerealistic it is for sure unless it's written badly.
