RE: The cause of the discord/La causa de la discordia

I absolutely hate scenes like this, where people always end up arguing about inheritance when someone dies. In itself, there doesn't need to be a will at all, because the law already provides for this, perhaps not for every specific detail, but it remains to be seen whether you describe this in your will and whether the person concerned will actually receive it. In any case, I drew up a will years ago and yes, I also disinherited people, because the solicitor thought my will was very standard. But what use is a standard will if the law already provides for it? Then I don't need to make one and I can save myself a lot of trouble. Despite this, I also drew up a will, which fortunately does not require a solicitor, but I also find that important, again deciding when I am no longer able to do so myself, and of course I choose a person for whom I know will respect my wishes and will not squander all the money. I think that in this case I could also have made arrangements for the parent, because as a parent you can certainly influence your children, even if you don't want to admit it.

I have heard news reports of this happening, not on this scale, but it has happened that some family members fight over inheritance, some have even gone to jail for conspiring to kill some of their closest relatives and even direct heirs.

I find this truly appalling. Imagine growing up together as a family and then ultimately killing each other just for a bit of inheritance? Perhaps it should just become the norm that there is nothing to inherit and that parents simply spend everything so that their surviving relatives receive nothing at all. It's also good to learn the skills to build your own life and not live off someone else's money or business. Now I feel like that's becoming less and less common here. Houses can actually be inherited, and if they are, very high taxes have to be paid. When you consider that we spend our whole lives buying a house that we have to pay off and that we can't even leave it to someone else without putting that person into debt, unless of course that person is already rich, then owning something makes no sense at all and is just a burden, especially a financial burden.

Making a will is very simple. I think people who have assets should do it. Sometimes people are driven by greed and forget that they are family.

A will with us isn't easy you have to follow some rules and it costs close to 1000 euros or more. The safest option is to consume or give away everything long before your death. If you do this last minute they will fight another as well.
