Actually the word laptop is rare, what is lap? ๐
Your lap are your upper legs when you sit. A little child or pet sits on your lap and that's the idea of this computer.
One is called officially a desktop (you place it on top of your desk) computer while the other is a laptop (place it on the top of your lap) computer.
Oh, but using the laps to put the computer was very rare, I mean you should curve your body to use it ๐
Only if you have bad eyesight otherwise you can see the screen and if you place it on your lap your arms also rest and typing ten fingers blind is also way more comfortable which keeps you free from RSI
Maybe that's what happened to me ๐
