A lot of trash is sent abroad, to Africa or... meaning it's not business but a way to get rid of it to keep the "promise" of producing fewer CO2. If governments really want us to produce fewer garbage they could put restrictions on all those wraps. I doubt the trash is business but for sure the products are. Selling 1 kilo of sugar a time (forcing people to buy more than needed) instead of 200 grams brings more.
Many recyclers make a living from garbage, a very difficult job, but some have no other option. We separate our garbage , there are three bags. The white one is for recycling, and one person receives it. It's a rule in the gated community where I live. I think this is great. These people sometimes get hurt while separating the garbage. Life is hard, it really is.
