There are also tricks to draw a circle. Place your hand with the pencil on the paper and turn the paper while the pencil draws.
Squares and boxes are what those who draw practise.
Due to lack of space, I could not explain that to make a circle, one should not move both the paper and the hand and should make a circle by placing it on one side. I have actually tried the recipe you mentioned and it makes a circle, but making a circle the way I was told is a bit difficult.
I can imagine the way you mentioned is more difficult. I will try it out too. In average I can especially if I draw circles in the air first before the pencil touches the paper.
