When it comes to getting votes, it’s not always about being the best writer. Quite the opposite, in fact. On a platform like this, you need to make friends and get votes from them. If you’re lucky, you’ll have friends with plenty of SP who can give you a high vote. Conversely, you’ll have to do something in return. If you never vote for anyone, that person won’t be able to grow either, and so won’t be able to give you a high vote. So you’ll often see that votes go to people who know someone, or belong to a particular group, or, for example, receive a vote to encourage them to write better or to motivate newcomers to stick around. In my personal experience, the really good writers, as well as the creative types and artists, rarely receive a vote. I’m not sure if this is a sort of fear because these people are better, or because they’re usually more focused on what they enjoy than on networking; and, like many others, they too have to sacrifice their time or their sleep just to be able to be on this platform.

People aren’t asked personally to give their answers to these; you can choose to do so or not, as you wish.
