I like how this comment started, by generalizing the behavior. But, I think that is the norm. The things that we get used to, starts losing some of its value. Just like what happened with her. But, it changed when she experienced loss..

I believe if keep repeating the same stories the will to listen is gone. At least that's what happened with me plus it suffocates if you can't decide yourself.
I believe that this has been quoted many times in many different ways. Depends on language and culture.
But, it's good to mention is that we're creatures of habit. We might not like repetition and get bored. But, we do make a lot of habits around us that makes our routine.
