In the past, I often imagined what it would be like to make a living from writing... I could spend all my time doing what I love most. How cool would that be!
At some point, I realised that it's even cooler not to write for income, but ‘just’ for pleasure. That way, I don't have to meet anyone's expectations or cater to mass tastes in order to remain marketable. I would even go so far as to say that writing for money leads to worse writing.
Steem currently offers a lot of space for passionate, non-monetised writers... ;-))
Not once I thought about being a writer. I could not even write three sentences in a diary or write an essay at school. I loved history and all I wanted was being a sculptor.
