CALABAR CARNIVAL IN NIGERIA
Like the great revolutionist Mahatma Gandhi will say "A nation's culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of his people.

CALABAR is a town in Nigeria, and conjointly the capital of cross river State southern Nigeria. Calabar is one of the most beautiful and sereign city in Nigeria, with a population of about 371,022 based on 2006 census. The city has efik as their major ethnic group with diverse culture and entertainment.

CALABAR CARNIVAL
This carnival is the Biggest street party in Africa. The carnival was created to make the state become tourism concentric in the country(Nigeria) and the world as a whole.
This carnival starts every 1st December and ends at 31st December every year, thereby attracting many visitors from outside and within Nigeria and also boosting the cultural diversity of the state.

ORIGIN
Calabar carnival started in 2004 under the administration of the then governor of Cross river State , Donald Duke. It was part of vision of making the city the hub of tourism due to it's diverse culture
After the carnival 2004, the carnival has been improving in the subsequent ones. In the actual sense the main vision has been accomplished already, because presently,Calabar is now the pride of Nigeria in the facet of tourism.

PARTICIPANTS
In this festival/carnival big section of spectators and participants gathers to catch fun and entertain themselves.
The participants area unites likes of Nollywood stars, Cannywood stars , musicians, top officials and so on.

In this Carnival the dancers and grouped participants dances and parades on the street of Calabar , showing the unique,the ride and the beauty of their culture.
This attires comes in multiple colors like rainbow,making everywhere (all Conner of the Street) glitter.
At the end of the carnival, the most outstanding group goes home with the carnival cup.
