Greetings my favorite readers and fellow Steemians, after a long while I am finally back to this our wonderful platform. And today I would be teaching us how to play snooker, the basic skills to have to become a pro in the game and how to beat your opponent. Also the basic terminology’s used in the game.

About Snooker

Snooker is a type of game sport played on a rectangular table covered with a green clothing and possessing about six pockets(-openings) at it’s ends. The game was first played in the year 1875 in India and the game is played with a total of 22 balls.

Terminologies

The terms below are used mostly in a snooker ball game, they are as follows;

Cue stick - This is used to pot a ball, it is the playing stick.

Cue ball - This is the entirely white ball that is used to pot other balls in the game. It is used repeatedly as the game goes on by both players.

Spot - This refers to a set of balls in the game

Stripe - This refer to another set of balls in the game.

Note- A player or group of player can only have/play one set of balls in a game. Either spot or stripe.

Eight ball- This is the only black ball in the game and can only me potted by a player who has pot all his/her balls.

How to play

All the balls are mixed and placed in the triangle with the black ball at the middle, after which the first player uses the cue stick to play the cue ball with the aim of potting a ball either spot or stripe.

This determines what the type of ball player would continuously play in the game for that round.

To play the cue stick has to be held at waist level and you have to place your hand in a way that your thumb is lying together with your protruding index finger.

Some dos and don’ts

● If a player allows the cue stick to touch the table or any ball while trying to pot it is termed foul.

● If a player pots the eight ball before they have potted their other balls it is termed foul.

● for each foul the opponent is giving the chance to play twice.

Thanks for reading I hope you enjoy the game when you try it out.

Note : The rules stated above where taught to me by a pro when I went to learn.

Wow, this is awesome @estyroberts, I like to play this games, this one, chess and scrabble are the indoor games I love to do. I knew how to play Scrabble before but hustling and stress has made me forgot them, I wish to start them again, thanks for sharing.

Adulthood can be stressful we just have to make out time to do some fun stuff.
