Welcome again readers and searchers of knowledge to another informative post where I would be talking about stress and it’s symptoms.

What is stress?

Stress comes as a result of physical tension, it is your body’s reaction and feeling of emotional, mental tension. When you are angry, nervous or frustrated it is causes stress.

Situation that can cause stress

I would give an example of a situation that can lead to stress. A student for example has been giving an assignment that requires deep research to be submitted in two days time, that same student is giving another assignment that requires the same in depth research to be submitted in the said two days time. Now the student goes back home for the day only to discover a long list of chores, almost submission day and the student is yet to complete the assignment. overthinking sets in, nervousness and worry, this is a stressful situation.

Also, when one is constantly worried about things he/she cannot control, that person puts themselves in a stressful situation. Anxiety, depression, low self esteem all these and more can cause stress.

Symptoms of stress

● Tiredness
● Insomnia
●Body Weakness
●Blurry eyesight
●Irritable
●Anxiousness
●Tensed and worried
●Sad and depressed.
●Can either gain weight or lose weight

Ways to reduce stress

Here are some few ways you can reduce stress.

●Always relax, find the time to take a break and breathe.
●Do not constantly worry about what you can’t control.
●Get a to-do list so you don’t get overwhelmed with your activities.
●Interact with friends, go out and do what you love. And always get enough sleep.

What was the most stressful period of your life and how did you overcome it?

Ok, the most stressful period of my life would be my three weeks in camp, my entire schedule changed, I wasn’t even having enough sleeping time. Sometimes we finished the day’s activities by past 11 and I would have to shower, go through my phone, reply some messages and talk to my family and friends before all this is done might be past 2am and I still had to wake by 3:30am so I can bath before the day activities all over. I love reading novels but during this period I did not try it, I used every free time I could snatch to sleep because I was always so tired.
That’s how I overcome that period, I had to shorten time for phone pressing and give more time to resting so I could be energized for my activities. All in all I somehow enjoyed the period not like I would want to experience it again.

Yes being in camp has always been very tedious ever, but it's very good you devised a means to overcome the stress associated with it. That's called strategy!! Thanks for sharing.

Really interesting article about Stress. What you said about NYSC camping is true. It was really a very stressful period. I believe they designed it as such, to prepare you for the stressful journey you are about to face in the job market. How was your Mami market, hope you did not finish your first allowance there? Hahahaha. Making me remember 2015/2016 when I served in Enugu state. It was fun @estyroberts

Ha, orientation camp stress isn't something one would wish to go through again. Mine was something else, from parade ground to platoon activities, drama and dance rehearsals, choir rehearsals, training sessions, it was almost like 24hrs activities. You see this part of the NYSC Anthem "under the sun or in the rain" wasn't just mere recitation, I tasted it.
No one at all deserve to be stressed because it's an ill wind that blows no one any good.

Yea, they took the Anthem way to literally.

My dear, this part touches me o, lots of chores at home minimizes my strength causing nothing else rather than stress. At times, I won't even be able to achieve anything again. Thanks for this timely reminder on how to reduce stress. I want to be stress free. So I will practice your suggestions.

Stress takes away happiness and joy and it replaces it with anger, but when we are cautious we will battle it because it can happen to anyone at anytime, yes all you said are effective ways to reduce stress

@estyrpberts,it's not that we like stress but just that if we don't work hard we might not survive in life and as such we should form the habit of marking out sometime to rest.
