Any nation that fails to develope her own technology will continue to be poor. This time honoured charge on how to go about driving the wheel of development in our country should serve as a wake up call.

No credible result could be realised until she starts making honest efforts to tap from nature's mathematical creativity.

In this memorable theatrice, Professor A.U Aliche drummed it into my ears that the much talked third world countries are those that are depending on borrowed technologies, of which Nigeria is a case study.

These are equally nations who have unstable system of government and majority of their men do not respect nor request the efforts of their women.

Not only that, Prof. went on; they have remained an epileptic and convulsional syndrome because they have refused to listen to NATURE; to be purpose driven in their life styles and the worst remains remains that their educational system is still living and functioning in a borrowed suit.

It has become necessary to look inwards and rely less on foreign aid and assistance.

Where Are The Mathematical Scientists who developed the first African Atomic Bomb, designated as "OGBUNIGWE" (Mass Killer).

Part finders like Professor Godian Ezekwe, Roy Umenyi, Ezekiel Izuogu etc. I ask? Can't their scientific and technological ingenuity be harnessed for their positive uses?

Where are such geniuses as Damian Anyanwu who developed the first frequency modulated (FM) station, known as RADIO MBAISE. (Incidentally, I served the inventor as Editorial Secretary between 1985 to 1987, before he left for the United States of America in pursuit of greener pastures.

What have our Engineers, Technicians and Technologists been able to derive from the unequalled Mathematical wizardry of Professor Chike Obi who is nationally and internationally been known, recognized and cherred as an African immortal Mathematical guru.

As Nigeria is highly enriched in both human and material resources, why are we still being classified as as a poor country with the highest level of low per Capita income.

Must we continue to be theorists against being Pragmatists? How come our educational system cannot produce inventors, geniuses, co-creators, monads and Mozarts?

Why are Polytechnics in Nigeria involved in the studies of Literature, Government and Public Administration, including such other courses that are not relevant within the content and context of Polytechnic education?

As a challenge, it is timely to highlight the list and noble exploits of presumably similar institutions in the various regions of the world.

Among the first class Polytechnics in the world are;

The Polytechnic Institute of New York
Westminster Polytechnic Institute, England
Aeronautic Polytechnic Institute, Russia
Polytechnic Institute of France, whose functions are tilted towards moulding, regrinding, cycling and recycling all that are within the scientific and technological frames of metallurgy.

These Polytechnics and Universities of Technology partner technically and scientifically with most of the automated institutions of the world like the automobile factory of Japan, whose Engineering foundary is second to non.
The Aeronautic Institute if Florida, the Ammunition Developmental Institute in Russia etc.

It has become expedient to overhaul our educational system to factor in the trending developments around the globe. There is also need to put round pegs in round holes. Misplacement of priorities should be done away with.

People who have no business in the educational sector should be shown the way out. It should be declared a No go Area for ruthless political vultures or merchants who engage in merchandise and ridicle the sector.

Those dead woods there who recycle themselves year in year out ought to be thoroughly screened with a view to deploying them to area of competences.

Corruptive tendencies and social vices like favouritism, tribalism, ethnicity, and nepotism among others should be jettisoned so that we could get it right for once.

Twenty six percent was recommended by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) as the right budget to lift education to where it ought to be.

But unfortunately, the reverse is the case. This has to be revisited with the view to reversing to the appropriate percentage so that the sector will get the full budget to deliver in it's mandate.

There is the tendency that the moment the education sector is put in proper shape and stabilized in funding and administration, we would be assured of producing the right middle level and highly skilled and qualified manpower to drive other sectors effectively.

With that done, we would have created the right environment to effect the desired change in politics, economy and social well being of the citizenry.
