Why You Should Support People

One of the things that make a community to grow is support. No matter how little or small a support may be, it will definitely has impact on the community. But a community where there is no support will never experience growth. Giving support to people has so many advantages and benefits. In this post, I am going to be discussing support on steemit platform and why it is necessary to support one another.

I joined this platform last year, precisely May 2021 and I am grateful to God for the experiences, knowledge and support I have received on this platform. Particularly, I am grateful to @steemcurator01 and 02 and all the members of this great platform that have been supporting me from the day 1 I joined this platform. I must say that joining this great platform has been wonderful and I do not take it for granted whatsoever.

Now, I am where I am on this platform today because some people supported and still supporting me. But then, I have noticed that many users on the platform don't support the members of their community, some give half support which a times may not be their fault perse. But we can never dispute the fact that your support to the members of the communities on this platform is of high importance.

Some people may say why should I support people or why is it important to support them. Below are some of the reasons why you should support people on this platform.

Your Support encourages people to keep working

Your support to people makes them to feel important and give the the motivation to keep working. We should know that support comes in many ways on this platform. When you give nice and great comments on people's contents on this platform, you encourage them to keep working. They are not only encouraged but will have fuel to prepare many other great contents thereafter.

Now this has occurred to me many times, when I publish a content and people comment and respond greatly on my article, I get energy even to prepare more contents because I believe I am not posting for posting sake. And I believe this is true for everybody. Therefore, let us encourage people by giving quality comments on their post or article. It helps them to know that people are reading their articles.

Apart from making nice and well-thought comments on people's article, another important thing is your support through voting. This is very important because it makes them feel good when they see reward of their effort. There is no one that does not like his effort to be rewarded. I have seen on this platform where people will support people's contents without voting them. As we give our comments, we should also try as much as possible to support them through our vote.

I think the reason why many people don't vote is that they think their vote is insignificant. No! Your vote isn't. No matter how little or small your voting power may be. It counts. Yes! It does. Your vote really counts. Let's assume that 200 people with a voting power that can give $0.05 curate an article, if we do the analysis, at least that will amount to about $10 in total in the author's article. Now, if the 200 people who curated this article assumed that their power is insignificant, the author will not have anything as reward. Can you see that no matter how small your power is, it counts.

Your Support Grows You

Apart from the fact that your support encourages people to keep working and helps them to grow, it also helps you to grow as individual. How does supporting people's contents on the platform helps you to grow? When you support others, it comes back to you as well. No matter how little your support is, you also get it back. For example, when you leave quality comments on users' contents, they do the same.

More so, steemit platform is designed in a way that when you curate people's contents, they not only win, but you also win. So, in essence when you vote on another users contents, you also support yourself.

Your Support Grows the Platform

Another important reason why you should support users on the platform is that your support directly or indirectly grows the platform. Like I said, your engagement on users' contents encourages them to keep working on the platform. We should know that it is people that make any community or platform. If users do not exist on the platform, there won't be that platform. And if people are not doing what they should do, the platform will not grow.

Steemit platform is made for people to engage and interact with each others, and this is what makes the platform to grow.

Real Example of How to Support Users' Content

With all I have said, I will like to show you how to engage on users' contents. See how I engage on the post of a user below. I firstly read the user's content to know what he shared on the article he published.

So after I finished reading his article, I clicked on the vote button, the vote button is the green arrow facing upside direction as indicated in the screenshot below by a black box.

Then when you click on it, a pop up will come up as seen in the picture uploaded below. This tells you to vote on the person's content with certain percentage of your voting power. By default, it is 100%, but you can adjust it to any percentage that you wish to vote the content with. But since my voting power is not yet big, I always vote people with 100%. So after you have agreed on certain percentage, click the arrow again to curate the content.

Now when you have done the above step, the arrow will change as seen in the picture below. The green arrow will be encircled by a green color all around as indicated by a black box in the picture uploaded below.

This means I have successfully supported this user by voting on his article.

Now, apart from voting his article, I also supported him by leaving nice comment on his article. Like I told you, the first thing I did was to read his article. In his article, he talked about 3 types of image formats, JPEG, PNG and GIF and their features, and he explained pictures that do contain each format. Apart from that, he also talked about how one can see the format of any image on his phone.

So after I read the content, I left a meaningful and thoughtful comment on his article as seen below.

All this engagement does not take me more than 10 minutes. I mean, reading of his article plus voting and the comment I left on it. If we want to engage on users' pst, we just must be intentional about it.

Conclusion

So we can see how I supported the user by voting on his content, howbeit small it may look like, and how I left a comment on his article. All these will encourage the author and motivate him to keep publishing good content. I encourage us to always engage and support users on the platform because it will help them to grow, it will also help you to grow and increase the growth of the platform.
