Hello everyone, I remain @young~ancient and I welcome you all to my blog. This post is about my first trip outside my state (Benue State). I was actually born and raised in Makurdi, Benue State and I have never travelled outside Makurdi and Ushongo Local Government Area ( my L.G.A) until Tuesday, 22nd March, 2022 when I had to follow my mum to Abuja, Gwagwalada to be precise for her medical checkup.

ABOUT THE TRIP

My mum had her brain surgery at University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada and 3weeks later, she was booked for a checkup at the surgery department in the hospital. So she decided that I should follow her for checkup and also use the opportunity to travel outside the state and I gladly accepted.

On Tuesday, we started the journey from Makurdi to Gwagwalada, Abuja with my sister in law's brother as our driver(since my brother was busy at work). It's all seemed odd to me since I'm not a travel type. I was trying my best not to sleep on the way because I had to look after my mum and also I wanted to see the road🤗.

I was able to observe some beautiful places on road, I saw mountains, some white men working on a new road construction on the way, shops and so on. I love the mountains more because I'm much interested in nature. It's sad I couldn't remember the names of places where I saw the mountains and trees and also I couldn't snap them too. I was able to memorize some names of places e.g yelewata, Akwaga, Lafia, Kokona LGA, Lugbe, Central Area(Abuja) and Gwagwalada.

On the journey again, we stopped at Akwanga to eat the meal, my sister-in-law prepared. I was sent to go get cold water so we could eat. I went to a somewhat bar and bought 3 bottle water and after that, I was served a plate of a delicious yummy beans, spaghetti and plantain😍.

While arriving in Abuja just immediately after the central area( where I saw the famous national mosque, Central Bank of Nigeria, House of the Rock) we decided to stop at Lugbe, Airport road( so they called it), to get some ice cream and some chops from SHOPRITE. The place was extremely beautiful with different atmosphere inside-out.

So I got my ice cream, vanilla and strawberry flavor ( my fav) with meat pie enjoying it in the car because we needed to continue our journey to Gwagwalada. It was around 2:30 pm by that time.

Thereafter we arrived at my aunt's house where we supposed to spend the two nights. The place was just after the hospital becy my aunt works in the hospital also as a medical doctor. We were well received by the members of the household and I got to met my aunt's kids, Mia and Ivy. On the 23rd March, 2022, we went to the hospital for my mum's checkup by 8am in the morning. We finished at the hospital by 11am and thank God the checkup went well and the hospital scheduled another checkup for my mum in June( maybe another trip for me again) and we returned home to rest for tomorrow's journey.

So for the rest of the day, I spent my time sleeping, playing with the children when they got back from school, gisting and watching movies with the girls in the house. It's was quite fun for me. At 8 am on Thursday, we hit the road. Thank God we traveled out and came back safe and sound.

CONCLUSION

Despite the fact that the trip was not a fun trip, I love the fact that I made my first travel out of my state and also I was there for my mum during her up and downs in the hospital.

I extend my appreciation to @steemalive community, @focusnow, @peterabagi and @thebeloved01 for the support in everything and at all times.

I know you must had a very exciting experience travelling outside your state of origin for the first time ever. It know It's a journey of couple of hours. Which side did you stop by at Akwanga. Akwanga is my place of residence. You would have stop by my place to say hi dear.

This post made me to flash back to 2004, when I travelled from the Eastern part to the Northern part for the first time. Thanks so much @young-ancient for sharing this post.

I don't really know the names of places on Akwanga. My pleasure Sharing.
