Congratulations to @steemforladies community for making it in this season of the engagement challenge. The topic for this week is really interesting and I hope to enjoy more interesting topics as each week unfolds. Read along with me as I give my take on the topic for this week.

Are women always right? Or Do men rather give in? Give your opinion and give us reasons why you say so. Are women always right? Does men rather give in? Or is it both?

In Nigeria, women are expected to be submissive, loyal, be a good home keeper and endure all manner of sufferings just to save their home so as not to bring shame to their extended families. The notion above have made men see themselves as the head and would not rather admit to their wrong irrespective of how terrible it might seem, and as such expect women to be tolerant. Women are not always right, and men are not always right. Both are created with imperfections and sinful tendencies and as such can never be right in all decisions as well as situations.

I feel rather than claiming to be right or wrong, individuals should work as a team, and not dwell or capitalize on the weaknesses of their partners as this will result in constant feud.

Do you think women should get away with being always right?

It is true that the holy book referred to women as weaker vessels, but that should not be an excuse for women to keep trampling on the men or claiming to be right. In some countries, there are laws that usually favors majorly the female gender and as such most women tend to use it wrong and intimidate the men. I believe a woman should receive a punishment for doing the wrong thing, and claiming to be right. It is true that we preach gender equality when it comes to some certain sectors in the society such as politics, employment etc, but in a marriage women should note that the man is ordained as the head of the family, and the woman is referred to as the neck, which means she is a support system to her husband and should not always claim to be right, as she would not easily get away with some harsh decisions.

• A woman is right/ decides who fathers her child
• A woman is right about the exact age of her children

My elder sister gave birth to her first child out of wedlock while in still in secondary school. The guy Who got her pregnant denied the pregnancy and my father was forced to take responsibility. My father has trained this child right from infancy. The child bears the name of my father as her last name. My sister is married to another man with other kids. My sisters child that she gave birth to is now 18yrs old and the man who denied the pregnancy years back, has filed a case in court trying to claim the child back as he said he only denied the pregnancy back then because he was not ready. Well, my sister hired her lawyer and the man lost the case with enough payment for damages. My sister claimed he was the father of the child by sperm donor, but my
father (our father) is the main father of the child by responsibility. Fatherhood is not all about donating sperm and getting a woman pregnant, it’s about providing and supporting your child emotionally, physically, spiritually and other wise. In this particular case, my sister was right, and she won.

Do you have any Advice(women for the men or men for women)

Irrespective of what the situation is, understanding and respect for an individuals opinion will go a long way in resolving issues. Everyone is right and everyone is wrong depending on the angle or the way they view a particular situation. It’s best to just respect an individual’s situation or opinion.
