“My... Romeo and Juliet” by jahangeerkhanday

Today I am here to share with you my friends short, interesting and very emotional story, and I am very hopeful that you will find it a good read, and I would be able to attract your attention and get your vote.

Note: I won’t be sharing here my friends name because I am posting it without asking him for his consent.

My friend, who is about two years elder to me went for tuition classes to Srinagar, the capital city of our union territory back in 2008 when we were in our teen age. It was the autumn season and all the students had completed their annual exams and had moved towards the tuition hub in Srinagar, where they had started on a new journey after passing the 10th class. My innocent friend, who had no good interaction with girls for the first time had to sit in a classroom where there were almost equal number of girls and boys who sat together in the class without any gender segregation. My friend, being an intelligent student always got the attention of his teachers and he always had one quality of helping others be it in the exam or some other situation. With the passage of time, my friend had started making friends in the class and one of the friends, being a girl student, who was always focused on her studies and used to discuss things with my friend. My friend and the girl had started staying together on adjacent benches without even having a clue of what was going to happen in the future.
Right from the start, my friend didn’t have any concept of love, and he couldn’t even imagine what love meant and how two genders could be able to attract each other without going into a legal relationship of marriage. He was more focused on his studies and always wanted to become a doctor. He was very determined towards his goal.

With every passing day the girl had started liking my friend who didn’t know anything about it but the girl was so shy in expressing such a thing.My friend who had never thought about such a relationship continued to spend time with her in the class discussing and understanding concepts together.
After a long time of about 7 months my friend also started liking her without making her know anything about it.He used to yearn for proposing her but was afraid of what the reply would be.He didn’t know that the girl also liked him.And with this the first year at tution got over.It was called off for 2 months until the tution for next class started.

When the tuition for the next year started, the same story started again, both liked each other without making the other know. My friend used to cry at home because he had now started liking her with more intensity but the thing what hurt him the most was that he was unable to express it before that girl and was afraid of losing her to someone else.The time passed by and the feelings from both ends had started intensifying, but still no one knew how the other was feeling about it.

Fortunately, for both of them, the girl had brought in along her cousin who also had started the tution in the same institute, and she also became friends with them. With every passing day, her cousin came to know that they both liked each other, and after about six months, she told my friend that the girl had gone crazy about him and desperately wanted him to know about it. Both of them being shy, couldn’t do it earlier until her cousin became the intermediary and brought both of them closer. It was all happening towards the end of the tuition phase after which both of them had to join college.

After the end of second-year tuition classes, they both had gone to their places without being in contact with each other, but fortunately for both,her cousin had come to know about the feelings of both, and she had in this duration of time told the girl about all this and had convinced her to meet the boy again. They somehow managed to contact the boy and then my friend after knowing about all this had gone crazy and his happiness knew no bounds, and he was literally very desperate to meet her again. This time he went along with a ring to propose her, and it really was a historic day in their lives, because what they had felt for the past two years was going to end and a new journey was going to start in which both of them were going to live together. My friend proposed her and both of them were very happy. The relationship had started for ages, but God had different plans. Only after a few days of relationship, the girl fell ill and was moved to a hospital where she was diagnosed with the last stage of Leukaemia .My friend didn’t know anything about, except the fact that she had got some fever and was ill. My friend also went to see her in the hospital.The girl died only after a few days and it was something unbelievable.My friend,a very sincere and honest boy had just committed himself to a sincere relationship and was very excited about it because he had to wait for it for so long, but his happiness couldn’t last long. It was only after 26 days of relationship that the girl died, leaving the boy, very broken and shattered. It was a tragic end to a love story that had to last long, but couldn’t maybe for a reason that it had to leave that boy with an aching heart for the rest of his life. Now around 12 years had gone by my friend is yet to marry, and he has not gone into a relationship with any girl because he feels like whenever he thinks about such a thing he feels, he is cheating on her. He Didn’t recover completely from the tragic loss and still cries whenever he is lonely. He still does not think about marrying any other girl and always says that he has married her in his thoughts and would not marry any other girl because he does not want any other girl to get into a relationship where the boy is crazy about someone who doesn’t even exist in this world. As I already told, he’s a very sincere guy and he cannot love anyone half heartedly. He still waits for her and has a belief that she would come again and meet him in this world. He has got everything in his life, except that girl whom he liked the most.

They are my Romeo and Juliet, because I am impressed with the way they passionately waited for each other and didn’t allow anyone else to come in their lives. What was in between them was the purest form of love and the way my friend still waits for her Juliet to come back gives a feeling that pure love never ends and it even gets stronger and remains immortal while as the sentient pieces of meat die but love remains immortal.
