Table manners are all about the polite and socially acceptable behaviors we should abide by while we are eating food. It means showing respect to others at the table. A lot of people like talking while eating which table manners stand out to address.

Examples:

  • Basic Hygiene We should always wash our hands before sitting down to eat food.

  • Usage of Napkin: Before eating, we should place a napkin on our lap to avoid food pouring on our clothes.

  • Wait for everyone: When you're on the table with others, wait for everyone to be served before eating.

  • Serving portion: We should take a reasonable portion of food to ensure others eat enough food also.

• Do you think children should be taught table manners or wait till they are grown before they can learn it?

Yes, I think children should be taught table manners and not until they have grown up before teaching them table manners. It would be best to teach children table manners so they can grow up with it. The best way that people learn faster is when they are been taught about something at an early age I think it would be so nice to teach children table manners at they early age and not until they have grown up. Teaching them now would become part of their lifestyle when they want to eat.

The most tasking table manners for me is waiting for everyone at the table before eating. When I am hungry I find it so difficult to wait for everyone to arrive or be served a portion of food before eating. Also, I find it difficult to keep quiet while eating. Nowadays self a lot of us would be eating, talking, and pressing the phone at the same time which has become a task that I am finding it difficult to do away with.

• Is it best to avoid a meal on the menu because you can't pronounce the name? Have you ever done it?

No, it is not best to avoid a meal on the menu because you can't pronounce the name which I have partially done before at the time I went to a Chinese restaurant in my town to eat. I called on the waiter and pointed at the name of the food since I was unable to pronounce the food so the waiter went and brought the food for me.
