The Diary Game: Back to Work, Back to Purpose: My Journey After Maternity Leave (12/02/2026)
Hello, wonderful community,
I’m thrilled to share a chapter of my journey with you today—one filled with a mix of emotions, growth, strength, and plenty of adjustments.
A few months ago, I officially returned to work after my maternity leave, and it truly felt like entering a brand new stage of life. While I was excited to dive back into my professional responsibilities, a part of my heart remained with my little one. The transition proved to be more challenging than I had anticipated, but it has been incredibly rewarding.
My mornings now dawn earlier than ever before. Long before sunrise, I’m up preparing for the day—getting myself ready, packing everything needed, and most importantly, ensuring my baby is set for the day ahead. Those quiet morning moments, cradling my child, are profoundly emotional as I know I’ll soon be leaving them at the nursery.

The initial days were the toughest. Walking away from the nursery required a tremendous amount of courage. I confess, there were times I sat in my car taking deep breaths, reassuring myself that everything would be alright. Thankfully, over time, it genuinely has gotten easier.

From the nursery, I head directly to work. Adjusting quickly from “mom mode” to “professional mode” has been essential. Some days, the transition feels effortless. Other days, I catch myself missing my baby in the middle of a task, worrying about whether she’ve eaten well, slept soundly, or smiled throughout the day.

The work itself has been both challenging and rewarding. Coming back after a break meant catching up on tasks, reconnecting with colleagues, and reestablishing my rhythm. It hasn’t always been easy, but it has reignited my passion and sense of purpose. Contributing, making an impact, and continuing to grow in my career is incredibly meaningful to me.
Balancing motherhood and work has unexpectedly taught me resilience. I’ve become better at managing my time and being present in each moment—whether at work or home. I strive to give my best while at work, and when I return to my child, I cherish every smile, giggle, and precious moment.
There are days when I feel utterly exhausted—both physically and emotionally—but there’s also a profound sense of fulfillment in knowing I’m doing my best in both roles. It’s not about being perfect; it’s about showing up, making an effort, and learning every day.
To every mother traversing this path, I see you. It’s a challenging journey, but you’re doing wonderfully. Be kind to yourself, celebrate the small victories, and remember your efforts count more than you realize.
This journey has reminded me that we are stronger than we think. While we may juggle numerous roles, we possess the strength to manage them all—with love, courage, and determination.
