How much power have the Presidents

My mother always tell me that recently the world became crazy and the freedom is very fragile. When looking through daily news and that are the news in TV, newspapers and social media we can find anywhere any news. Often the news with extreme title will always draw our attention, that is the main aim of such information source. Internet made it possible to spread the news from all over the world in seconds and to anywhere. That is what I tell my mother that the life is not more dangerous as before but we get the news more faster than in the past.

One of the breaking news was a political chaos in Seoul, South Korea, when the current President Yoon Suk Yeol over night declared Martial Law and control of a country by himself and army. He explained that there is a threat from North Korea and its supporter for the country and people. That evening everything went very quickly that people went on street and the opposition parties united against the decision of President. I believe the whole world was thinking what will happen and if the President will give up and reverse his decision. On the streets there were already people demonstrating and military who were trying to make people to go to their home.

When watching the whole that on TV, I thought that it is completely different from demonstration in other countries where often hooligans often make chaos on street with throwing stones and burning cars. The difference here was that everything around remained intact. It is then clear that people there worried about their freedom and their future. They did not have any problems to stand up against military and that military did not applied forces to control the demonstration.

At the end of the second day it was then clear that the president gave up and lifted Martial law.

When I observed all that I was thinking how we human love to have a power, we get used to that and do not want to give it away. If it comes to such situation many country leader will try to do everything to stay longer. That is why the best is that the leaders should be be re-elected after maximum of 2 times presidency.

Politic, power and being selfish these features of human being can bring a lot of harm.

In democratic governments and free societies, the power belongs to the people. Individuals are allowed to enjoy their human rights to the fullest, especially the rights to expression and peaceful assembly.

They would often exercise these rights through peaceful protests.

In saner climes, indiscriminate shootings, including the use of firearm or lethal force to disperse the crowd is highly prohibited.

This is pursuant to International Human Rights Laws like Article 21 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), Article 11 of the
African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights and most importantly, Article 20 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

I must commend your people for uniting to speak their minds in the most civil way.

I'd agree that "people there worried about their freedom and their future."

I also agree with your position that politics and power can be intoxicating as well.

Still, we have the people to tame them. But this is only realised in societies where human rights are respected and protected.

Here in Nigeria we don't enjoy our rights at all, we are supposed to have impeached our president but it seems those who are supposed to start this impeachment protest are scared or already received bribe.

This is a very touching post. It is interesting to consider how the rapid spread of news in today's digital age has affected the way events are viewed, especially in politics.

I wish it the same here in my country, and I feel one of our problems is there is no political freedom. Thanks for sharing.
