Hello guys. I'm taking part in this contest entitled “emergencies” organized by @helengutier2. We've all encountered emergencies in the course of our life some minor and others life-threatening or even near-death situations.

Emergencies refers to a situation which is unexpected or unplanned and calls for swift action or response and poses a risk to human life or properties. It may be health related, natural such as disasters, technologically related or otherwise. But for the purpose of this activity my emergency is health related so let me share my story.

It was a rainy evening, August, 2022. I had just finished dinner and was preparing to go to bed. I felt this sensation in my stomach and I just thought I was bloated so I wasn't concerned. Few minutes later, I started feeling a sharp pain in my stomach and it intensified over time. Seconds turned to minutes and I tried to adjust my posture, drink water and try to feel relaxed but the pain wouldn't just go away. I hurriedly ran to my parents and informed them of the situation. My dad was less concerned this time because I had always reported stomach problems, so he thought it's just one of my tantrums.

After several minutes, the pain became unbearable, I was visibly struggling and everyone knew it wasn't a joke. I started throwing up all over the place. My parents rushed me out and we boarded a tricycle to take me to the nearest clinic.
Thankfully, the doctor was available and his response was swift. He offered me a bed to lay on and gave me an ORT solution and some doses of injections.
He told me that it was food poisoning and I suddenly remembered that the dinner I ate had been in the fridge for a day and it wasn't properly covered, I just took it out, put it in the microwave and ate it and that was what caused the upset.

After some minutes the pain calmed down and I felt okay. About an hour later it was all over and I felt so relieved. I was actually able to trek back home with my dad because it was midnight and due to the rain, there were no vehicles for transportation but we all made it back safely.

Emergencies can occur as any time and place and sometimes we cannot control the outcome, but if it is heath related like in my case, eating leftover food especially one that isn't properly covered should be avoided. Needless to say, that was the last time I ever ate food kept in the fridge, though my siblings still do, but I don't, because of that negative experience.
I was really grateful to the doctor on duty as well as the nurses supporting him for their swift intervention.

Thank you friends for reading
