Is it possible for God to make holiness impression with creatures and other things, leaving blood aside? The answer is no, see Leviticus 17:1-16. Considering the significance of blood in the Old Testament and New Testament, God has to come up with holiness demand that involves blood. The message is divided into the following:

(1). Calling For Special Sacrifice: in Leviticus 17:1-9, a call is made that whenever a man kills an ox, a lamb or a goat in the camp or outside the camp, he should bring the blood to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation to make an offering unto God. Whoever fails to do this, it shall be imputed unto him that he had shed blood and as such will be cut off from Israel. Romans 5:13; Genesis 17:14 Obey God and avoid being cutoff .This is for purpose of Israel bringing the sacrifices which they offer in the open field to the door of tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest and offer them for peace offering. A stranger should comply. In Deuteronomy 12:5, 15, 21, Exodus 20:24 The priest will make atonement by sprinkling the blood upon the altars at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation and burn the fat as a sweet savour unto God.

Reasons For This Commandment: firstly, Israel should know that God is the only true God Exodus 20:2-3, Hosea 13:4. Secondly, they should reverence Him as a Holy God Leviticus 19:2 . Thirdly, they should not go into whoring by offering blood of sacrifice elsewhere apart from the door of the tabernacle Deuteronomy 32:17; 2 Chronicles 11:15. Fourthly, blood belongs to God and should return to him Leviticus 17:14. Finally, to avoid being cut off from Israel Leviticus 17:14, that is, mishandling of blood for sacrifices condemns one before God.

(2). Condemnation Through Blood: any stranger dwelling with them shall eat no manner of blood. The blood is the life of all flesh and is given for atonement for your soul. Whosoever eats it is cutoff. This is a statement of condemnation. The blood is for atonement of the soul, this is the significance Matthew. 26:28, Romans 3:25. In Leviticus 17:13, we are asked to pour out the blood of animals. In both the Old Testament and New Testament, we are not expected to use animals without removing the blood. Leviticus 17:14 makes it clear that Israel were told to take heed to God's instruction on blood management to avoid the weight of condemnation Exodus 22:31; Ezekiel 4:14; Leviticus 11:25.

(3). Costly Blood Of The Lamb Of God Guaranteed Our Holiness: Whoever eats that which dies by itself or that which was torn by beasts remain unclean Leviticus 17:15-16. It is so because the blood in them were not removed as God directed. Such a person who is unclean and has to undergo the blood cleansing process which is by bathing himself and washing his clothes, he will remain unclean till evening when he shall be clean. But today, the costly blood of the lamb who is Jesus Christ washes our uncleanness and by this we are made holy and righteous before God Hebrews 9:14;1Peter 1:19.
