Is self Medication is safe? |

Self medication is not always safe. Sometimes, we take medicine without asking a doctor, thinking it will help in disease but it can be risky. If we take the wrong medicine or over dose of it, it can harm to our body. Some medicines are strong and if we do not know how to use them, these can create problems instead of making us better. For example, If we take any antibiotics without asking to a doctor, this antibiotics can make our body used to them. And later these antibiotics won’t work when we really need them. So, it is better to ask a doctor before taking any strong medicine. We can take only light medicine as self medication like disprine, paracetamol.
What kind of self medication do you practice? |

I use only light medicine which are not harmful for our body. Sometimes, when I have a small problem like a headache or fever, I take simple medicines like painkillers. If I get acidity, I take an antacid syrup. For a sore throat, I drink warm water with honey and lemon. These are small things which I do by myself without going to a doctor. But I do not take strong medicines like antibiotics or sleeping pills on my as self medication, because I know these can have bad effects if not taken properly.

Yes my friends I have experience advers effects of self medication. Once, I took a painkiller (Dicloran SR 100mg) on an empty stomach and it gave me acidity. Another time, I took cold medicine and I felt too sleepy the whole day. One time, I took two different medicines without checking properly that had the same ingredients. These made me feel weak and dizzy. So, now I try to be very careful before taking any medicine. If I am not sure about a medicine, I ask a doctor first and then use.

Self Medication has many different problems.
- First of all , we can use wrong medicine which make sick more.
- Second is that, if we use much antibiotics, these stop working in the time when we really need of it.
- Some medicines have bad rection if we take them combine and unintentionally they can make us sick instead of recovery.
- Some medicines has side effects like dizziness, stomach pain and allergies.
- The biggest problem is that we may ignore a serious disease, thinking it’s a small issue.
That’s why self Medication should be done carefully.
