SEC-S13 / W5 | How can alcohol cause damage to your health! 🍺

in Healthy Steem6 months ago

Hey Steemian friends!

Having some alcohol is just a special occasion thing for me. My family is very open about having a drink when there's a party or family gatherings. I had no restriction what so ever and my father in fact encourages us to celebrate such moments. So I see it as a way to have a good & enjoyable time with the people I know of. But hey, I know there's a huge health risks involved in this habit. With that in mind, I'm ready to share my experiences on the contest questions.

🍺 When can we say that a person is an alcoholic? Give reasons for your answer!

I once had a colleague who turned into a living example of what we call an alcoholic. Every evening at around 5 pm his hands would start trembling. His first instinct? Reach for a cigarette and then whatever alcohol he can find.

His look was a giveaway!

It is something he developed over the time by consuming alcohol daily. Now this person needs it everyday. Due to this habit he is financially broke, when he doesn’t have money he goes every section to borrow from the staff and with a promise to pay back after payday which will often end up as a broken promise.

Even His appearance mirrored the chaos within. The smell, the untidy look it was a stark reminder that he'd crossed the line. For me, that's the limit, the point where alcohol takes your life off course. It's when you can't control your needs and cravings. I think someone qualifies as an alcoholic when they put alcohol above everything else, making it their top priority.

🍺 Do you think alcohol is a drug? justify your answer!
Yes & No for that

As per the things I know and heard, a drug can get into our system way faster than alcohol and the overall health effect is way more dangerous. So, I don't think they stand on the same level and hence the answer would be "No", I don't think alcohol is a drug.

Also, drugs are super addictive but alcohol! sometimes they don't even give the kick we want. However, this doesn't mean it's a harmless sip. Alcohol will work slowly in our system and tighten its grip on us as a habit. So now the answer could be "Yes, it could act as a drug too!"

🍺Can alcoholism be considered a disease? How to control it!

Well, I'm no doctor but I've seen alcoholism disease through my friends and relatives. When it starts to dictate your own life and terms, then it surely a disease.

However, since like many other disease, we have a say in this one! We just have to battle against those inner thoughts. That's it. Seeking professional help would immensely good but if we have right people around us to help to get through some period alcoholism is not an unbeatable one.

🍺Is every drinker considered an alcoholic?
Just another way to unwind our lives

I definitely enjoy a glass of whisky or a beer occasionally, does that make me alcoholic!? I don't think so because I know I'm not. My theory is simple, if this occasional drink wouldn't turn into a daily ritual then you are in good hands I guess. The best practice would be to know when to hit the brake, what is your limit and the purpose taking it. As long as you have your control, enjoying a sip of alcohol would be just another recreation in our lives. That's how I take the whole thing! If you agree or disagree, comment.

You have expressed your views very openly. Of course, we cannot compare such people to alcoholics who drink a certain amount occasionally. And there is no difference in their thinking and understanding power. Therefore, it would probably be wrong to call him a drunkard, because a drunkard is said to be that category of person who loses his ability to reason logically.

may you get success

You've got a point about the importance of considering individual situations before slapping on labels. Thanks for such constructive comment friend! 🎉
