Diseases associated with excessive use of computers and how to avoid it by @armaa

Technology is so ingrained in our lifestyle that we spend most of our time making use of some technology, one of them is the computer, is that spending a lot of time on our computer either for work or fun can generate some consequences to our health, that is why we must take some prevention measures so that the impact of computer use does not harm our health. There are several diseases that are generated by spending a lot of time on a computer, below, I explain the most common:

Computational eye stress


When viewing the computer screen for a long time, eye irritation, redness of the eyes, visual dryness, blurred vision, eye tension or eye stress are generated, resulting in decreased vision.

To reduce the impact that computational eye stress makes on our vision it is advisable to have a computer use schedule without going beyond that schedule, taking breaks of one hour to rest our eyes, avoid as much as possible using other means such as TV to distract us because if we spend a lot of time on the computer for work it is necessary not to abuse our vision in other media such as entertainment. Wear special computer lenses that filter out excess blue light avoiding eye strain.

Carpal tunnel syndrome


By constantly using our hands with repetitive movements for a long time can generate carpal tunnel syndrome, this occurs when compressing one of the nerves of the wrist and hand producing some symptoms such as pain in the wrists, inflammation, sharp pain especially when mobilizing the hands.
As a prevention measure we must make sure to buy an ergonomic keyboard and mouse, there are pads to keep your wrists supported, in addition to this we can use as a tool an app that helps you write using your voice, another way to prevent is to take breaks every hour, perform exercises to the wrist, when there is pain use anti-inflammatories, compresses and rest.

Muscle weakening


By sitting for a long time we become sedentary, this leads to multiple diseases, that is why we must get up from the computer every so often and walk, it is also necessary to perform some physical activity that compensates for the hours we have been inactive in order to avoid muscle weakening, obesity and diabetes, since being inactive produces insulin resistance which leads to these conditions of the body.

Computer syndrome


This syndrome is contracted due to prolonged exposure on computers, the most prominent symptoms are: headache, dizziness, tiredness in general, body aches, blurred vision, dry eyes.
The best way to avoid this is to rest between the workday for time intervals, recreate with outdoor activities.

Lumbago


It is a pain that is generated in the lower back that affects our health, it is necessary to have an ergonomic chair, sit correctly, get up and stretch from time to time.

Consequences to the nervous system:


Being in front of a computer for a long time can trigger damage to the central nervous system due to the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the computer, there our health is affected giving fatigue, vertigo, memory loss and in more serious cases brain tumors and cancer.
To avoid this it is necessary to avoid electromagnetic radiation as much as possible, not exposing ourselves for a long time in front of devices that emit these radiations.

Pain in the cervical, back


Muscles and tendons can be affected by a bad sitting position or not having a desk or a proper chair, laptops are not made for long work because it is lower, which leads us to lower the head bringing with it pain in the cervical and back.
To avoid this we must have the right tools such as an ideal workstation with its chair and table of an ergonomic size, avoid laptops to perform long jobs, perform physical activity and avoid sleeping with pillows in order to maintain optimal health.

Stress


Working for many hours in front of the computer can generate stress, that is why we must have a well-angry space, go out to get fresh air, do other recreational activities and exercise.

These are some causes that produce being a lot of time on the computer, the most important thing is prevention and taking breaks between work and so we can be more productive and have optimal health.
