Teachers' Workshop Seminar 2023 | Mactan National High School
Day 1 of our 5-day workshop seminar held in our school. By the way, this is just the first day, so hopefully, I can give you an update on the happenings in the following days.
I was supposed to be one of the speakers but thanks goodness, the topics were lessened, and one of those canceled was mine. So today's seminar, I will be one of those behave learners silently setting on the corner.
Our day was divided into two speakers. One in the morning, and one at noon.
In the morning, we were refreshed about Action Research. A very essential thing for teachers to be refreshed with. You know in our field of work, improvement is a must... all for the students' future.
At noon, we were given the chance to learn about first aid. Although knowledge about first aid is not that new, it was given importance since accidents may happen anytime and anywhere so it needs to be reviewed.
But then again, the role of the first aider is specifically highlighted. Our work ends when the ambulance is already there, or when the professionals are already present.
Ok, so we were taught different ways to carry a patient. The first thing to bear in mind is when you assist someone the purpose is to help, not to add injury to the patient.
It was first demonstrated by the selected well-trained students.
And for our performance task, we then take turns in showing our acquired knowledge through their demonstration.
There, we were divided into three groups. Those who are not burdened with weight will play as the patient and be carried by those gifted with strength.
As expected, the fun of having this activity was beyond. Singles were intentionally chosen to play the role... so even by just merely starting the count down, "umaapaw na yong kilig at tawa". Plus you know teachers, we are always on the ride... going with the mood... you couldn't imagine how this activity ended. A supposed-to-be serious one turns into laughter and fun.

Thank you for sharing your experience of the first day of the workshop seminar at your school. It's great that you were able to refresh your knowledge about Action Research, which is very important for teachers to improve and contribute to their students' future. It's also great that you learned about first aid and were able to demonstrate your knowledge through a performance task. It's good to know that the session ended on a positive and fun note, with everyone enjoying the activity. I'm looking forward to hearing about the rest of the workshop in the coming days.
