👉🏻#Club5050 | THE DIARY GAME | Gardening Time and Sharing Our Harvests To Other Neighboring Communities
Good day, Steemians! This day brings me such sweet earthly joy. They say the universe is all connected, just as we are, and it's so tangible and real right now.
I changed my clothes for gardening after giving my son a bath, cleaning the entire house and doing laundry, and eating a hearty breakfast. I went down to our community homeowners' garden to check on the vegetables we had planted several months ago. We've got tomatoes, peppers, radish, pechay, squash, lemon, and other fruits and vegetables grown in the community homeowners' garden. Our garden is enormous. Self-sufficiency in having vegetables is especially a must during this pandemic and inflation because it saves us from having to buy them in a very expensive market.
Our bitter gourd is still in the early stages of development. While the peppers are ready to harvest for "sinigang", and our okra is nearly ready for harvest, also we have a squash almost ready for picking. This would be a good time to make sumptuous "pinakbet". We also have a bottle gourd.
Some of our tomatoes will be ready to harvest in a few days. Hmm, they'll be delicious in a salad or a homemade vegetable burger. I am sure the homeowners will feast on these harvests.
Wow! Look at our cucumbers and string beans, and sweet potatoes, they're multiplying and are now available for purchase. Those were given to me by a friend, who also assisted me in assembling a trellis to ensure proper bearing. Some neighboring friends come to our community homeowners' garden to buy them because we can't eat them all, and we also share some with other neighboring communities.
In case we want a snack, we also have a corn plant that is only for the homeowners' neighborhood. Only what we need is harvested. In our subdivision, almost all of us are retirees and there are only 15 households overall that's why we share what we reap with our neighboring communities because we have plenty of them.
Onward with our potted (DIY - old tire) upland spinach. Last week, I and other homeowners harvested and cooked some of it.
I told my neighbors an hour before lunch that I would go home ahead of them because the heat of the sun was bothering my migraine (It usually attacks when I have too much sun exposure.). One of my neighbors suggested that instead of carrying the harvested vegetables with me, he brings them to the house. I was extremely tired.
My mother informed me that she had already prepared our lunch when I arrived home. She instructed me to clean up and change my clothes so that we could have lunch together. We napped after lunch, after giving my son a noon bath. My Mom woke me up at 6 p.m. and informed me that we would be having dinner. We only eat a light dinner because I want to go to bed early.
Though I was having a migraine, it was a pleasant day in our homeowners' community garden. That was a moment that brought joy to my lips. I'm pleased that we had a great time harvesting some of our vegetables and to see that some of them will be ready for harvesting next several weeks.
