Earlier today, I was looking at Matti's basketball ring and I wondered, is this already a year old?

My husband said yes and so I scrambled into my old photos from the mobile phone and checked if I have pictures to remind me of the time when Matti and hubby assembled it in Cebu. I am glad that we have a photo so I am sharing the story behind this basketball ring.

When we got to Cebu City during the pandemic, we visited SM Seaside, pre-pandemic, we always visit this mall, almost every week, that's where we buy our groceries and everything. So I went shopping in the kid's section and bought Matti some shirts and socks. While I was at the cashier, I noticed this basketball ring displayed next to the teller counter and thought that looks nice, it has a star on it and its board looks like that of the planet Saturn.

I was still in line and the husband was looking after Matti. I told him to check it out. Its price was at Php 1700+ or 133.33 Steem approximately. I thought that sounds reasonable and told my husband to get one for Matti. He just complied and so we were home with a huge box containing this basketball ring.

The husband and baby decided to assemble it immediately after reaching home. Matti was of course very excited! I took a video of it too but I forgot where I had saved that.

A year after, the ring is still with us. It is really sturdy, we had adjusted its height too and aside from being a basketball ring, it can also be used as a soccer and golf goal. I really like this stand.

However, Matti seemed to not be interested in sports. He is not playing with it as often as he plays the drums and the guitar. Even if we have the ring stand available in our room, he is not into playing it, he would usually just get the ball, shoot once and then it will take weeks before he'd play with it again.

So based on my observation, Matti is not the sporty kind of boy but then, I have to just leave the ring there because people change and he is still young, he might change his preferences in the future. I believe that a person's environment will matter to his interests. A person can't be interested in something he is not exposed to so I am just keeping the ring stand there to expose it to him, plus, the husband enjoys it too!
