My Girl Scouts at the Girl Scout of the Philippines Investiture Ceremony

Two weeks ago, my children had their Girl Scout of the Philippines Investiture. Joining the GSP was not compulsory for all students. It was just voluntary. My husband and I were thinking of not letting our children join at first. Then we later realized that they will only pass this stage of their lives once. So we thought of not letting them miss this scouting experience.

After all, this will be the first time for our second and youngest daughter to experience this kind of event after the pandemic. Our eldest daughter had joined the GSP when she was in Kindergarten and Grade 1 until grade 2 then pandemic came.

By the way, an Investiture Ceremony is where all new members are being welcomed to the Girl Scout. It is also where they recite their Girl Scout promise among others.

Prior the the ceremony, they had rehearsals of the songs and memorization of the Girl Scout promise. My children, together with other girls, practiced their parts under the heat of the sun for a couple of days. Though it was just for an hour or so.

We also need to prepare their GSP uniforms and the pins that will be used during the ceremony. Good thing, we needed just one more uniform since we already had two. Our friendly neighbor gave us their daughter's GSP uniform since she will no longer be using it. And another one was our eldest daughter's uniform when she was in Grade which now fits her younger sister.

The day of the Ceremony...

The ceremony was in the afternoon. Lunch time we were already at the school getting ready for the event. As a mother, I needed to make sure, our girls got all what they need for the ceremony.

Here they are before the ceremony.

I took photos for documentation, of course. I also sent it to their daddy who was at work at that time. I can't believe they have grown so fast! It makes me old! LOL

Then it was time for the ceremony. As always, the gym was full of students and parents. I needed to find a spot where I can view our girls from a far and also an easy access to them because their was a portion of the ceremony where a parent needs to put on the girl's hat.

I was not able to capture a photo of my eldest daughter's ceremony. Parents where not allowed to go near during the investiture. With my two other daughters we were just watching her from a far.

Overall, the ceremony was a success. The new girl scouts were welcomed to the the Girl Scout of the Philippines organization. After the event, we took more photos. Now with their teachers and classmates.

There was a school campus camp after the Investiture for Junior Girl Scout. Our eldest daughter is one of the Junior Girl Scouts. My husband allowed her to join up until the activities for the night is over like the camp fire but we did not let her stay overnight. She just came back the next morning to join the rest of the activities of the day.

All parents here with grade school children can relate to this scouting experience.

Thank you for reading this far!

Until next time!

Love,
Met

Thanks for sharing your experience with your children's Girl Scout of the Philippines Investiture. It's great that you allowed them to participate in this voluntary event, and I'm happy to hear that everything went well. It's also nice that you captured some photos to remember the occasion.

It's fantastic that your daughters were welcomed into the Girl Scout organization, and that your eldest daughter is now a Junior Girl Scout. It sounds like it was a positive experience for your family and I hope your daughters will remember it fondly.

Thank you for sharing your story, and I wish you and your family all the best.
