Legend 2 ~Prison

"I should have know you are a slut, Mama warned me" my ex-fiancé said from the other side of the phone "don't you ever call this line again" he continued and hung up.

Me? A slut?, I had tried calling Jason as soon as I had gotten arrested but I had discovered he had changed his line, I had called his office but his secretary, the same one I had caught him with, had denied me speaking to him. I had to get his new line from one of our mutual friend after she warned me repeatedly never to call her line again. it seemed nobody wanted to do anything with a criminal.

I have been prison for two weeks now, no contact from the outside world, the only people I had conversation with were my cellmates and other convicts. When I asked my cellmate Mary what she had done to get her here, she had replied with a big smile that she had beaten her thirty year old brother in-law, I quickly asked how old she was and she told me she was twenty two.

My other cellmates Elle and Chelsea were repeating offenders. Elle had been nabbed for drug trafficking while Chelsea had been for Manslaughter.

"Time up, Miss Ruth, time to see your lawyer" I looked up and see today's warden looking at me strangely, it seemed I have been woolgathering after the call. I walked towards the interrogation room to meet my lawyer. Lawyer, I hadn't been able to afford one but the family who had accused me of killing their son had provided one for me, according to them, they were doing what any self righteous human being would do.

I entered the room and the lawyer stood up "Good afternoon, Miss Ruth" he said. I didn't answer him, I just move to the chair I was supposed to sit and sat quietly.

"Miss Ruth, how are you doing?" he continued. I raised my eyebrows at him, what did he expect me to say " I am well and okay", "Prison is so beautiful".

"Miss Ruth, my client would like you to plead guilty" he spoke quietly but firm.

"Guilty?" I shouted, "guilty for a crime I did not commit?", "guilty for a victim I had never seen in my whole life".

He looks at me, this time with a cold and hard gaze, I shuddered. "You are going to plead guilty and spend fifteen years here, or you could try fighting us and spend your whole life here".

I sat, my whole body shaking, looking at him with shocked eyes, my mouth wide open.
