A major incident occurred in our area today, right before our eyes. Goat thefts are quite common in our locality during this season. It is a time of scarcity; with a lack of work, people face financial hardship, leading some to turn to theft. However, the thieves involved today did not steal out of necessity; rather, they are involved in online betting, which drove them to commit this crime. It became the day's big news and caused quite a stir in the area.

This morning, our regular laborer arrived to plough our peanut field. The reason for ploughing the field—where the peanuts were sown in rows—is that monsoon rains often wash away the soil from the base of the plants, exposing the peanuts. We are now ploughing to bank soil back around the base of the plants, following our original cultivation plan. It will take two days to plough the entire field; he will work all day, and his daily wage is 500 Taka (4 USDT). I then took my leave.

Today, my cousins ​​sold their bottle gourds; they typically sell them every other day. They began harvesting early this morning. Each harvest yields around 600 gourds, sometimes even more. Two people handle the harvesting, while another two carry the gourds to the roadside. Middlemen come to collect the produce. From here, the gourds are transported to a central collection point where trucks are loaded for shipment to the capital.

After being brought to the roadside, the gourds are counted and loaded onto the wholesaler's vehicle. They are carefully arranged to ensure none fall off during transport. However, the counting process includes a requirement to provide two extra gourds for every 100. On this occasion, the wholesale price was 21 Taka per gourd.

Today, a net is being cast in the large pond next to our house. Since this is a pond for raising fish fry, the net is being used to check how much the fish have grown. The pond is very deep, requiring a massive net; consequently, two nets were joined together and cast into the water, with six people—three on each side—pulling it in.

It was a delightful sight to watch the fish splashing about as the net was drawn toward the bank. There is a variety of fish here; some have grown quite large, while others remain small. After inspecting the catch, a few fish were set aside for a meal. Local children were busy gathering the smaller fish that had escaped the net. Once the inspection was complete, all the fish were released back into the pond.

We were still by the pond when some neighbors came running and shouting; they explained that two young men had just stolen a goat belonging to them and driven off in a van. Although we had noticed the van earlier, we hadn't realized a stolen goat was inside. The thieves hadn't gone very far yet. We gave chase on a motorcycle and caught them—along with the stolen goat—within a kilometer. We brought the thieves and their van back to the site. As soon as they arrived, an angry crowd began roughing them up. We intervened to stop the beating, tied the two thieves up, and notified their families. The two thieves were from a neighboring village; they engaged in online betting, which drove them to commit the theft to fund their habit. Their family actually holds a good reputation and is involved in business.

The thieves were handed over to the custody of their family members. However, news of the incident had already spread through the area; people flocked to see the thieves, and since many locals had previously suffered goat thefts, they suspected these youths were responsible for those earlier incidents as well. A crowd gathered quickly, with many people recording videos, though the thieves themselves were quite young. We released the two youths into their family's custody and returned home.

This evening, I spent my time in my room watching cartoons with my nephew and niece and helping them with their studies.
