The importance of electrical overload.

Today I will write about an electrical device called Overload(O/L). Overload(O/L) is an electrical device that protects the electrical home appliances used in your home. Overload can be classified by amperage and electrical phase. I have shown a picture of an O/L of (10-120)A.

We will generally learn about two types of overloads based on usage.

• Digital overload
• Manual or analog overload

Identify the different parts of overload

Overload protection protects home appliances, such as refrigerators, motors, ovens, and large industrial motors, from electric shock circuits. For example, if a water pump motor in our home is 15 amperes, then I can use an overload of (0-20)A. We have to set the current or ampere from the overload.

Specification of O/L(10-120)A

• In the picture, the digital overload is in the middle of the current or ampere settings knob. Using the arrow symbol, we will set the electrical home appliance to the current. If the electrical appliance draws more current than the current we have set, the overload will immediately cut off the power supply.

• There are two knobs on the left and right sides of the digital overload for settings. These are used to set the overload time. If the setting time is too long after taking excess current, the electrical home appliance will be protected from electric shock by turning off the power supply.

The digital overload has two indicator lights. A red light indicates that excess current is being drawn. A green indicator light indicates that the overload is operating at its specified settings.
