Making a Delegation with Steemworld.org
Making A Delegation
A delegation is the assigning of the value of steem power to another user such that they can use it for curation.
If that was difficult to understand, let me put it in simple terms. A Delegation lets you lend Steem Power to another user, so they can use it to write, vote and comment on the Steemit platform.
You must have noticed that it is the power of the steem that is lent out and not the steem itself.
The person giving out the deligation holds the steem while the person reciving the deligation utilise the steem's power.
So in effect, I will be giving the power of some of my Steem to another Steemian to use, but the Steem will remain with me.
How to delegate steem power
The person giving out the delegation must have steem power because you can't give what you don't have, and can't give what is not yours.
From the screenshot above, I have a little more than 1,800 delegatable steem power in my account.
In this lesson, I will delegate 20.000 Steem power to @commy05, a new user who has zero Steem power to engage with.
I will be using the steemworld.org app to make the delegation to @commy05.
In the address bar of my Chrome browser, I entered:
https://steemworld.org/@manuelhooks
This will load into steemworld.org and will load details specific to my user account.
[Step 1]
I had to confirm that my username was displayed on this tab.
[Step 2]
Select the delegation tab to reveal both incoming and outgoing delegations associated with manuelhooks.
The snippet shows that I don't have any incoming delegation, but I have one outgoing delegation to @sadematthew. Delegating to @commy05 will make it a second outgoing delegation.
[Step 3]
Select the Delegate tab to bring out the delegation dialogue SP box.
[Step 4]
I selected the To Account field and typed in commy05, the account I am delegating to. Remember not to put the @ sign.
[Step 5]
I then selected the Amount (SP) field and typed in 20.000
[Step 6]
I finally selected the Accept button which brought out the confirm Delegation window.
In this window, I confirmed the user I was delegating to and the amount being delegated.
[Step 7]
After the confirmation, I selected the yes option.
To finalise the delegation, an authentication dialogue box appears.
[Step 8]
I entered my active key.
[Step 9]
And finally selected the Accept button.
This process gives @commy05 20 steem power to use for curation and other activities.
