Every country, and every race has a specific national festival, in which people of all religions, castes, and races do not forget to participate. Also, I am a Bangladeshi, my country and our national festival is 'Pahela Boishakh'.'Pahela Boishakh' is mainly celebrated to welcome the Bengali New Year.Bengalis of our country and West Bengal of India participate in the first day of the Bengali New Year 'Baishakh' month.

The history of Pahela Baisakh is believed to date back to the Mughal era in the 16th century, when Mughal Emperor Akbar introduced a new tax system based on the harvest season. It's called in bengali'Halkhata'. It coincides with Bengali New Year, which is traditionally celebrated by local people.

How is this festival celebrated? Are there any special rules for celebrating it?

Very close association of rural population and agriculture with New Year festival. In villages, people wake up early in the morning, then put on new clothes and visit relatives and friends. The house is beautifully decorated. Special meals are also available. A Boishakhi fair is organized in an open field in the meeting area of several villages. The shopkeeper performs a 'Halkhata' ceremony in which various sweets are served to pay off his dues. There are various types of cottage handicrafts, various pitha puli arrangements, etc.

But gradually the way of celebrating this festival has changed in the life of Bengalis. Now mainly the city-centered people are celebrating in a big way, such as 'Mangal Shobhayatra' people are taking part in wishing for auspiciousness for the country and nation, celebrating by eating 'Panta Ilis' in the middle of food, etc.

Of course, in the biggest festival of Bengali national spirit, there are various kinds of traditional food arrangements. For example, in village Bengali when 'halkhata' ceremony people eat sweet food, also different types of Pithapuli are arranged. But the traditional food that is mainly eaten in New Year is 'Panta Ilis'. It is mainly served with water mixed with rice, fish Ilis with various raw peppers and onions.Basically, 'fish-rice' is Bengali, that's why fish is associated with our tradition, moreover, Iris is our national fish, that's why people try to eat this dish on national occasions.

Quite an interesting part, actually on New Year's day the entire Bengali nation forgets all religious differences and participates in the celebration. As a child, I used to wake up early in the morning on the first day of New Year Baisakh, wear new clothes with my friends and go around different places, there were various events in the village, 'Mela' where many toys were sold. Me and my friends went to see the fair once in the evening, the festive atmosphere around the different lights was a great feeling.

Besides the beautiful scenery, I went to Tangail once, it was New Year, there was a big New Year celebration, which included 'Naika-Baich' which is basically a boat race in the river. In a big boat, many competitors work as a group. Fortunately, I also participated. That was a great experience for me. Even if we didn't win, I will never forget that experience.

I invite to join this beautiful

Dear, you have presented beautifully about the national festival of our country, Bengali New Year. Panta-hilsa food is a New Year tradition in our country. Buying kites and toys at fairs was another tradition as a child. I really miss the joy of putting on New Year's stickers. Your writing is very beautiful. Good luck to you.

Dear @muja01,, Greetings to this challenge,,
Pahela Boishakh is the tradition of our Bengalis. It embodies the history, tradition and art of our country. To celebrate the festival, we participate in various festivals and events by reading New Pajama Punjabi on the first day of Boishakh. If we don't eat panta and hilsa on this day, we all have a bad day. Although we are "fish and rice Bengali", let us remember rice and fish more on this day. Various joyous festivals and fairs are organized on the day. Kite flying and boating are one of them. These events are passed down from generation to generation among Bengalis.
