Assalamu alikum

How are you all I hope everyone is doing well by the grace of Almighty Allah. Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Almighty Allah and your prayers, I am also very well. Today I am here to share with you a post about the historic May Day. So let's begin,,,
Every year on the 1st of May "Labor Day" is celebrated all over the world. This day is the day for workers' rights, social status and fair wages. Many joyous festivals are organized around the world around the day. Although it is a public holiday, various public and private institutions celebrate this day through various arrangements.
However, today we observe this day as simply as possible. Achieving this day was not easy. This day was achieved through many struggles and protests. The time was 1886, when workers were not scheduled to work for eight hours as it is now. At that time, workers had to work continuously for a full day. And even after all their hardships, they were not given fair remuneration or wages.
On May 1, 1886, workers organized a protest march in Chicago, USA, to demand their fair rights. There they highlight their rights. But the police brutally tortured the protesting workers there. 8 workers died in police firing that day. As a result, this logical demand for workers' rightful rights became popular all over the world. Many new workers took part in this protest march.
Later one day again when the police opened fire on the workers during the protest march, 17 policemen were killed and 4 protestors were killed. This created a deep wound in the minds of the workers and thereafter their protests intensified.
As a result of this, the government and factory owners were forced to accept the demands of these protesting workers. And today we are working 8 hours a day as a result of the sacrifice of those protesting workers.
Our Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in his address to the nation in 1972 recognized May 1 as a national holiday. Ever since then, 1st May in Bangladesh has been observed as Labor Day. However, the regrettable thing is that even after 53 years of independence, we have not been able to keep the spirit of Labor Day in our minds. Every moment we are taking away the rights of the workers.
Today on Labor Day the office is closed but there is no holiday for the workers even on this day. The office court where voices were raised against the workers' rights that day is closed on Labor Day and the workers are sweating their bodies.
Hope we all spread moral education among ourselves and respect workers on Labor Day.
